Richard Perceval Graves is an acclaimed biographer who has now turned the spotlight on his own early life and times. He was born into a very different world, with no internet, no smartphones and no social media. Here is a description of what it was like to be brought up in those days: how children were educated, the kind of lives they led both at school and at home, the seaside holidays they went on, the books, newspapers and comics that they read, the poems they learned, the songs they sang, and the television and films that they watched.
